‘Many people think it is chiefly women who instruct female Solicitors but I act for about an equal number of men and women. Women sometimes feel more comfortable seeing a female lawyer but, equally, men often think it might be good to get the ‘woman’s angle’ in their representation.’
‘I was previously a barrister, but I find it is more satisfying living with a case from day one and supporting my client through all the twists and turns until it is finished. When clients first come to see me they are often anxious about the future; I try to help them by taking the ‘mystery’ out of the law and explaining it simply.
‘I have had a number of cases recently when I have acted for fathers seeking orders for contact or residence of their children where the mother has been looking to exclude him. My view is that if a good father’s case is well presented he can expect a fair outcome from the Court, though it is not always easy.’
'Outside work, I play netball to quite a high standard and I have just moved house.'
